The Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge is a vital specialty in dentistry focused on the restoration and replacement of missing or damaged teeth to rehabilitate oral function, esthetics, and overall oral health. It encompasses fixed prosthodontics (crowns and bridges), removable prosthodontics (complete and partial dentures), implantology, and maxillofacial prosthetics. The department provides comprehensive education and hands-on training to undergraduate and postgraduate students in both conventional and advanced prosthodontic techniques.

The department houses a fully equipped preclinical and clinical laboratory with modern dental units, CAD/CAM systems, high-precision articulators, and dental casting and ceramic units to support high-quality prosthesis fabrication. Aims and Objectives

The objective of the undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG/MDS) program in the Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge is to emphasize the diagnosis, treatment planning, and rehabilitation of patients with missing or deficient teeth and/or oral and maxillofacial tissues. The goal is to restore function, esthetics, comfort, and oral health using fixed, removable, or implant-supported prostheses.

• The Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge highlights the importance of comprehensive oral rehabilitation, biomechanical principles, and esthetic considerations in prosthodontic treatment.
• Students are trained in understanding occlusion, jaw relations, articulation, and temporomandibular joint function relevant to prosthodontic therapy.
• Prior to clinical postings, UG and PG students undergo intensive preclinical training including simulation exercises for complete dentures, removable partial dentures, fixed partial dentures, and implant prosthodontics.
• Clinical case history, examination, diagnosis, and treatment planning are emphasized with patient-centric approaches that encourage active student participation.
• The department is equipped with modern audiovisual and digital tools including CAD/CAM systems, virtual articulators, and 3D printing to support advanced prosthodontic education and research.
