Eligibility Criteria for BDS and MDS Admissions 2026

Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS)
To be eligible for admission to the BDS program for the academic year 2026-27, candidates must meet the following criteria:
  • Age Requirement:

    Candidates must have completed 17 years of age on or before December 31, 2026.

  • Educational Qualification:

    Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or equivalent 10+2 examination from a recognized board with the following subjects:

    • Physics
    • Chemistry
    • Biology (or Botany and Zoology)
    • English

    Candidates must secure a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (40% for reserved category candidates as per government norms).

  • Entrance Examination:

    Admission will be based on the merit of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026 conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Candidates must qualify NEET-UG with the minimum percentile as prescribed by the Dental Council of India (DCI).

  • Other Requirements:
    • Candidates must be Indian nationals or Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) as per DCI guidelines.
    • Candidates must be medically fit as certified by a registered medical practitioner.
Master of Dental Surgery (MDS)
To be eligible for admission to the MDS program for the academic year 2026-27, candidates must fulfill the following criteria:
  • Educational Qualification:

    Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from a dental college recognized by the Dental Council of India (DCI).

  • Internship Completion:

    Candidates must have completed a one-year compulsory rotatory internship by March 31, 2026, from a DCI-recognized institution.

  • Minimum Marks:

    Candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in their BDS degree (40% for reserved category candidates as per government norms).

  • Entrance Examination:

    Admission will be based on the merit of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for MDS (NEET-MDS) 2026 conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). Candidates must qualify NEET-MDS with the minimum percentile as prescribed by the DCI.

  • Registration:

    Candidates must be registered with the State Dental Council or the Dental Council of India.

  • Other Requirements:
    • Candidates must be Indian nationals or as per DCI guidelines for NRI/foreign candidates.
    • Candidates must be medically fit as certified by a registered medical practitioner.

  • All admissions are subject to the rules and regulations of the Dental Council of India, the respective State Government, and the University affiliated with the college.
  • Candidates are advised to regularly check the college website and the official NEET-UG/NEET-MDS portals for updates on application procedures, counseling schedules, and other admission-related information.
  • Reserved category candidates must provide valid caste/category certificates issued by competent authorities during the counseling process.
  • Meeting the eligibility criteria and cut-off scores does not guarantee admission, as seats are allotted based on merit and availability.
  • Cut-off scores may vary slightly based on the counseling round and institutional policies.
