Himachal Dental College, Sundernagar has brought immense pride to District Mandi and Himachal Pradesh by winning the prestigious “Community Service and Outreach Award” at the Dr. R. Ahmed National Student Awards, organized by the Indian Dental Association (IDA) and held during the World Dental Show on 9th November 2025 at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai. Chosen from numerous entries across India, this honour acknowledges the college’s remarkable dedication to social welfare and community outreach under the visionary leadership of Directors, Dr. Anil Singla sir and Dr. Vikas Jindal sir, and the inspiring guidance of Principal, Dr. Baljeet Singh. All outreach initiatives are driven by the Department of Public Health Dentistry, led by Dr. Sahil Thakar, through which the college provides dental awareness and screenings to over 6,000 patients annually via its free community outreach camps and on-site treatment through its fully equipped, state-of-the-art mobile dental van under the “Dant Upchaar, Aapke Dwaar” initiative. The college also conducts impactful school-based programs such as the “Tobacco-Free Youth Ambassador” programme, which trains students from Classes 10 to 12 to become advocates for a tobacco-free society, and the “Dental Marshall” program, which educates young students on oral hygiene and empowers them to spread awareness among peers, families, and communities. This national recognition stands as a proud testament to Himachal Dental College’s unwavering commitment to community service, preventive oral health, and societal well-being.
